Kiss or Diss: The Golden Globes 2012 - 16 Jan 2012

Even if you weren’t watching the Golden Globes last night, it was pretty hard not to know what was going on.  Thanks to social media sites (*ehem* Twitter) there was a non-stop stream of Golden Globe hashtags taking over the internet.  Opinions on the glitz, glam and who was taking home which globe completely dominated news feeds. Unfortunately we were totally swamped at our end (pretty never rests, and as you know we’ve got BIG things happening) and were unable to live tweet one of our fave red carpet events*sniff*!

So here are our fashion highlights (and..er… lowlights) of the evening:

Kiss: Natalie Portman, returning to the red carpet sans baby bump and managing to look feminine and chic.  Loved her very Marilyn-esqe pink gown (circa Gentlemen Prefer Blondes) which gave her a touch of sex appeal without pushing the boundaries.

Kiss:  Dianna Agron took a chance on this delicate lace number.  The red lace draws contrast to her porcelain skin, but she manages to carry the personality of the dress. Totally stunning.  This Giles Deacon dress definitely deserves some L-O-V-E.

Kiss: Lea Michele lets out her sexy side in this phenomenal Marchesa gown.  Form fitting, and barely there sequinned detail- the dress flows flawlessly down her figure.  Meow.

Diss:  We can definitely say that we weren’t loving Michelle Williams’ Jason Wu dress.  The actress did manage to take home Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical- let’s just hope that she leaves this bulky dress behind.

Diss:  Sarah Michelle Gellar missed the mark on this dress.  We’re glad to see her back in the game, but this Monique L’huillier makes us wonder WTH she was thinking.

Kiss:  Seriously.  I’m going gaga for Even Rachel Wood in this Gucci.

Kiss:  Mila Kunis looked tough as nails, without ruining her “prettiest girl at the party” reputation in Dior.  Not just any girl could get away with looking that bada$$  in chiffon.

Kiss: Emma Stone’s plunging Lanvin plum dress was a daring concept that played out rather lady like.  We’re impressed by the level of class this girl always brings to awards shows- seeing as she’s only 22.


Style & Strut - 12 Jan 2012

Not that we don’t LOVE our party gals who are living it up in December… we just totally missed our usual parade of brides that we see the rest of the year!  With spring weddings on the mind, bride-to-be’s are trickling in for consultations and Bridal Lashes 101.  It feels good to be back in the wedding game!

On January 22nd we are going be bringing pretty to DreamGroup’s Style & Strut.  A fabulous event, with an even more fabulous special guest!  Non-stop fashion shows and advice from Randy Fenoli of TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress make for a stylish atmosphere.  After you indulge in fashion be sure drop by the Style Lounge where you’ll find divine beauty services that will primp and polish you on the spot.   You’ll find us with our beauty BFF’s, giving blushing brides our Pretty in a Quickie, the perfect way for lash virgins to test the waters.

Yaletown Naughty or Nice Girls Night Out - 30 Nov 2011

This weekend Yaletown is getting festive, and we’ll be bringing the pretty!  Yaletown businesses are going to be taking over 1012 Mainland street from December 2nd-4th making shopping breeze.  With an event every day there’s no excuse not to spend the weekend among friends in Yaletown!

You can catch us on the evening of the 2nd from 6pm-9pm at Yaletown’s Naughty or Nice Girls Night Out Shopping Party!  We’ll be there with our beauty BFFs showcasing our favorite products available in lounge.  From ButterLONDON to our gift cards (who doesn’t love the gift of the luscious lashes!) we’ll hook you up with the perfect gifts for all the fabulous ladies on your list!  There will be cocktails and munchies from the New Oxford, and you can even get your photo taken with some smokin’ hot fire fighters!  Christmas shopping doesn’t have to be hard, and we’re here to make it easy so take advantage!

Rhodes to Perdition - 29 Nov 2011

A lot went down in this week?s episode. First of all, CeCe is back! I always loved watching her! I mean, who wouldn?t want to look like her when we get older?!

Also, Chuck and Blair got closer. Wonder what the Prince would think once he finds that out! And does Blair really bring out Chuck?s dark side? To be honest, my heart aches a little whenever I see them now. Am I the only one?

So Nate’s back into his whole family drama, although the whole thing sounds like it was another Grandfather-orchestrated scheme that gives Tripp publicity and Nate, credibility. And is that really the end of Diana, just like that?

Check out CeCe in her Carine Gilson silver jumpsuit and Amanda Pear earrings. Not everyone can pull off the look, but wouldn’t it be fabulous if we could at her age? *rawr*

Serena?s in going for her Greek Goddess look here in her gold Diane von Furstenberg Clarice Dress. This dress is an excellent example of easy, relaxed elegance whie still sizzling sexy!

Charlie is wearing a Marc by Marc Jacobs Camino Lurex Sweater and a Susanna Galanis Necklace. Not too impressed by Charlie?s outfit as usual. However, I do think the colour palette is perfect for fall.

I did save the best for last. Blair?s outfit won me over, once again. She?s wearing a Donna Karan Casual Luxe Long Trapeze Sweater and Yves Saint Laurent Tribtoo Cap-Toe Pump. I mean, just look at those pumps! Who doesn?t love nude pumps these days? I just think the look is simple, yet elegant.

Now that Charlie is an official Rhodes, what?s going to be next? Can?t wait to see how, when and who is going to reveal her secret!

All The Pretty Sources - 22 Nov 2011

This episode, we finally get to see what Louis has been doing behind his pretty Prince charming facade! He might even be the next “evil genius,” quoted from Serena from last episode, who knows? And does Diana have a heart after all or is she hiding the fact that well, she might just be a tart? We’ll just have to wait and see!

Blair is borderline freaking out as soon as she’s not in control. Ooh, how typical of Blair! Despite the fact that she was extremely nervous, she still managed to put together this totally classy outfit!

In case you didn’t catch a glimpse of Blair’s hairdo; her hair is tied in little bows along the back of her head. It looked very neat and time consuming. But she’s Queen B, I’m sure her minions can do that for her!

Finally at her bridal shower, Blair embraced the surprise and showed up very festive in her Christian Dior Embellished Bow Dress. Gotta love the bling on this dress!

Serena is looking alright in her Mary Katrantzou Spring/Summer 2011 Print Dress, showing off her legs as usual. But, the Christian Louboutin Winter Trash Slingbacks is looking famous! She’s truly a Lou fan, no wonder Mr. Louboutin had a pair named after her!

Gotta say I’m a tad bit more impressed by Charlie’s outfits this episode!  For the shower, she’s in a Bensoni One Shoulder Dress with Bounkit Earrings.  Also love the little braid details on her updo. It’s how Upper Eastside does boho.

But the stunning surprise piece of the show? Her sparklicious gold sweater that hung oh-so-perfectly. Almost too perfect. No picture online does it justice, but for those that do remember, it’s a crewneck Alice + Olivia piece priced at $330 – which is no longer on the A+O site (boo). Until next week….!! Will Chair be revived?
